DOGGY DAY OUT

Dog’s Day Out is an exciting opportunity available to volunteers at our shelter. It’s an opportunity for our dogs to get some time away from the shelter, and a chance for volunteers to get a chance to do some of their favorite outdoor activities with a furry friend. Whether you want to just chill at the park or get in a run, we can find a dog that will enjoy having a chance to join in. This is also a great opportunity to spend time with a dog you want to get to know better before making an adoption commitment.

So, where should you take a shelter dog? If you’re looking for a walk, the closest place is the Steuben County Park. If you head to the Steuben County Event Center 2 miles away, you’ll be there.
If you have an Indiana State Park pass or are willing to pay an entry fee, we’re also just a short drive from Pokagan State Park with over 13 miles of hiking trails and the Trine State Recreation Area with several trails.
You could also go find a nice place to sit and chill, bring some treats and make a dog picnic. Find a nice shade tree to relax under and read a book with them. When you bring them back, it’s always fun to stop by Starbucks for a yummy Pup Cup.

We don’t allow you to take them to interact with other dogs or allow them to visit a dog park.

So, what does it take to participate in this program? It’s simple.
