Community Humane Shelter Receives $250,000 Matching Gift Challenge

The Community Humane Shelter may soon realize their dream due to the kindness of a prominent local business woman.   A matching pledge gift of $250,000 has been offered if the Shelter can also raise $250,000 additional dollars by Jul 31, 2017. In memory of her beloved cats, CJ and Como, the anonymous donor will match dollar for dollar, up to $250,000.

“This is such a generous offer and an amazing opportunity for us to reach our building campaign goal prior to moving in to the new Shelter building” said Board President, Lisa Caudill.   “We have so many wonderful, wonderful people who believe in what we are doing, and the difference we have made in Steuben County and beyond.”

If the $250,000 match goal is met, a total of $1.6 million dollars will have been raised and the Shelter Board will fulfill a promise they made two years ago that they would not borrow money for the construction project, and they would remain debt free. To show appreciation for this heartfelt gift, the board has received 100% participation from its members, who have collectively contributed $75,000 toward the match.

To help the Shelter receive this matching gift, please consider making a donation or purchasing a brick prior to July 31, 2017. Those interested can go on the Shelter’s website at CHSSteubenCounty.org, visit the shelter in person, or mail a contribution to P.O. Box 204, Angola.
